Animations are all about the story whether or not they are complete story if you look at a static picture drawing. So to draw animations, you just draw in a comics without colour then you asked your animators to turn that into animation, this method has been use by a lot of people, from Japan, DC comics. Just like video you can place different genres, usually animations are about super power, super hero, characters in fantasy, characters with animation weapons, others.
